Kuantan
Kuantan is the state capital of Pahang, the largest state in Malaysia, but remains very relaxed and unspoilt. Kuantan is home to the pale green and blue colours of the regal State Mosque, a stunning building and one of many worth viewing in Kuantan, along with the residence of the Royal Family, the Hindu temples and the Kuantan Clock Tower.
A walk down Jalan Besar will take in the aroma of salted fish and a chance to sample the keropok (a kind of fish cracker) both of which are local delicacies, and in Beserah it is possible to watch the salted fish being prepared. Beserah is one of the local fishing villages that also has an excellent beach. Kuantan is an easy place to travel by foot and the people are very friendly. Kuantan is a lovely place to relax and appreciate a friendly local welcome.
