Pahang

Pahang is Peninsular Malaysia’s largest province. With a formidable mountain range dividing east and west of Pahang, the landscape of the province is aesthetically beautiful, incorporating lush tropical forests, palm fringed beaches, waterfalls, mountain passes and the renowned Taman Negara National Park, referred to locally as ‘The Green Heart’.

Taman Negara is one of the main reasons travellers visit Pahang – they come for jungle treks and nature walks, ready for an intrepid adventure despite the many kinds of tropical insects and spiders that inhabit the National Park and indeed the leeches – it’s all part of the thrill of it all!!

The other main reason tempting visitors to the region is the relaxing hill station resorts, including the well known Cameron Highlands, Genting Highlands and Frasers Hill. Cameron Highlands remains unchanged since colonial times, with Tudor buildings and rose gardens still in situ making it a very fine looking area, overlooking the lush green terraces growing tea and strawberries. Add to that a Buddhist temple and bustling market square and you begin to see why it is popular amongst travellers. Genting Highlands is much more developed, with a particularly good scene for nightlife, making it popular with younger travellers. There is also a horse ranch and golf and country resort. Most tranquil is Frasers Hill, offering a nature’s paradise and a gentle spot in which to summons up some energy for one of those adventurous treks through nearby Taman Negara!!
