Qingdao

The China Times recently named Qingdao as China’s 9th most liveable city. It is a mix of a busy seaport town with green interior. As with many of China’s cities, Qingdao is undergoing development and there is a rich integration of old and new, traditional architecture combined with new builds. With a strong Germanic, Japanese and Korean history, there is an interesting mish-mash of different architectural styles.

With beaches and parks as well as typical city skylines, charming Qingdao attracts its fair share of visitors and is a well known holiday resort for the Chinese, helped by its temperate climate and arguably the best seafood in China.

Some have likened Qingdao to Switzerland, with its colourful scenes of red rooftops and lush green foothills. With wooded hillsides and winding roads leading to long stretches of coastline, Qingdao is a fine place to spend part of your trip to China.
