Beihai
Beihei, a sleepy seaside town on the coast of Guangxi Province, is best known for being the stepping off point for ferries to Hainan Dao, and for its famous Silver Beach. It also boasts some interesting historical architecture around the harbour - it was once an important hub on the Marine Silk Route, and also later became renowned for its pearl production. Silver Beach itself , about 6 miles south east of the city, has stunning white sands and relatively clear waters - there is also an eclectic mix of beach villas, ranging in style from Swiss chalet to German castle, as well as the usual array of beachfront hotels. Beihei is linked directly by flight to Beijing, Guangzhou and Guilin amongst others.
