Phnom Penh is the capital city of Cambodia and makes a good base to travel to other parts of the country. It is the wealthiest and most populated city in the country and offers a fantastic array of restaurants, accommodation and shopping for travellers. It is also a great place to watch Cambodian life from a street side cafe or to take in the interesting Khmer and French influenced architecture. 

The oldest temple in the city is Wat Phnom, dating from 1373. Other popular tourist attractions in the city are the Royal Palace, the Silver Pagoda and the city’s museums detailing Cambodia’s fascinating, if sometimes harrowing, history.
