Kuala Lumpur Natural Wonders: Kuala Selangor Fireflies
In a matter of moments, the darkness is punctuated with the fabulous display of thousands of fairy like lights of the fireflies lining the shore. Fireflies are found in abundance in the Mangrove (Berembang) trees, along the lower reaches of Selangor River. Nearly thousands of fireflies group together on a tree, beginning their synchronized display about one hour after sunset. A really bright display can last for about two to three hours, continuing at lower levels until dawn. Enjoy the spectacle of whole trees being lit up like ‘Christmas trees’.
